Music and studying

Things we enjoy doing, we do more often. Therefore, one of the goals, if we want to make it easier to study, is to make learning more enjoyable. One of the things that helped us with this is music.

We chose songs from some of our favorite movies for studying. We listed some titles and added them to a playlist. So we added all the songs from the Harry Potter movies, all from Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Jurassic Park, and Pirates of the Caribbean. It took us a few minutes and that playlist has been our background music for studying ever since.

Movie music reminds us of the excitement we experienced while watching the movie, which gives us additional energy and makes learning more fun. Film music has calm periods that accompany slower scenes and periods full of energy for action scenes. Such small changes make learning less monotonous and more interesting.

While searching for good music for studying, we also tried music from various games, such as Minecraft, Pokemon, Stardew Valley, etc. We quickly realized that this music did not motivate us to study but triggered the desire to play those games. We did not notice this problem with movies, though.
