How many notifications per day?

How many notifications did you get on your phone today?

My phone shows 74 today.

What is the impact of all these notifications that distract us? And this is just on our phone. What about television, internet ads, mailbox advertisements, billboards on the road? News, gossip, sports scores... A huge amount of distractions that keep us from important things.

In a world where we are all exposed to this noise, a person who can avoid it has a big advantage. Who among us can say they can focus on an activity for two to three hours a day?

What would our life be like if we could do that? How do we achieve that?

We started by not watching TV. We have ad-blockers on our computers. We rarely use Facebook, only on our computers and we have the News Feed blocked. And we use our phones as tools. The only notifications we receive are phone calls and direct messages from people who are close to us. Nothing else appears on the screen until we open a given app.

Now we also have a new experiment - we have a separate user profile on our computer with movies, series, and the like. The other user profile has no entertainment available. We make the entertainment  available one week and then we disable it for a week.
